How to Create a Link

Step-by-step guide to creating a new link in the Grovs platform.

This guide walks you through creating a new link in the Grovs platform, from choosing a URL path to configuring redirects and tracking.

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • Selected the correct environment (Production or Test) in the dashboard
  • Integrated the mobile SDKs into your app (if targeting mobile)
  • Configured your project's redirect rules in the Project Setup guide
1

Start creating a new link

From the Dynamic Links > Links section, click the Add Link button in the header.

2

Configure URL

Enter a custom path for your link (e.g., /summer-sale). Custom paths make links more readable and memorable. All paths must be unique within your project.

3

Set link details

  • Link Name: A name to identify your link internally (not visible to users).
  • Tags: Optional tags to help organize and filter your links.
4

Select link type

Choose the purpose of your link:

Use this for general-purpose links or if your advertising platform is not listed under Ad Platform Link.

5

Customize social media preview

Set how your link appears when shared on social media:

  • Title
  • Subtitle
  • Image

If you leave these empty, your project's default settings are used. See the Project Setup guide for defaults.

6

Add data parameters

Use the Data section to pass key-value pairs to your app or website. Example use cases:

  • Send a user to a specific section: section: profile
  • Provide a coupon code: coupon: 25OFF

There are no restrictions on the keys or values you can use.

7

Configure redirect settings

Override your project's default redirect rules for this specific link. For each platform (iOS, Android, Desktop), choose a redirect behavior:

  • Default Redirect -- Uses the project-level redirect behavior.
  • Web URL -- Always sends the user to a specific web page.
  • App or Web Fallback (iOS and Android only) -- Attempts to open the app. Falls back to a URL if the app is not installed.

For iOS and Android, you can also configure the preview page:

OptionBehavior
Show Preview PageDisplays a branded screen with your app logo and name before redirecting. Increases trust and install conversion.
Skip PreviewBypasses the preview and redirects automatically to the app or fallback URL.
8

Set tracking parameters

Add campaign data for analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Google Play, App Store):

  • Campaign Source
  • Campaign Medium
  • Campaign Name
9

Create the link

Click Create to generate your link. Your link is now ready to use in advertising platforms, social media posts, internal workflows, or any other distribution channel.
